These include: manuscript critiques, submission package reports & mentoring for writers of crime fiction.
Manuscript reports
I offer full MS reports, WiP reports. Please note these are fiction only. If you’ve had feedback on your work that has simply listed its failings, you’ll know how demotivating it can be. My reports have two main goals. The first is to help you to understand what is currently working well with your project and what needs attention. The second is to lay out how you go about the improvements. I am a highly experienced feedback-giver and did my effective learning MA dissertation on the subject. The turnaround time is within 4 weeks for the regular package. If you need a quicker delivery, I offer an express package which guarantees a 2 week delivery. Prices
These are for the regular 4 week service.
A full MS report is £400 for work that is up to 50k words and £599 for work that is over 50k words. This includes a 2k word report AND a 30 min follow-up discussion (in person, on phone or via Zoom) to cover any questions.
A WiP report is £225 for work up to 25k words. This report is 1k words long, and assesses your plot, story structure & characters. It includes a 30 min follow-up discussion (in person, on phone or via Zoom) to cover any questions.
Submission package reports
If you are submitting your work to agents or editors, it can be extremely helpful to get feedback. I did two masterclasses before I submitted to agents. I literally followed their advice by the letter and it worked really well. Generally, you will be sending a query email with your sample chapters (usually the first 3 chapters or 50 pages) and a one page synopsis. The query email and sample chapters are the most important of these, not least because it’s usually the order in which they are read.
My submission package report covers all 3 areas: query letter, sample chapters & synopsis. It includes a 30 min follow-up discussion (in person, on phone or via Zoom) to cover any questions. The cost is £225.
Mentoring
I am an experienced, effective mentor. I offer 1:1 and group mentoring for writers. Fees can be paid on an hourly basis or paid in a block at a discount. Please contact me on vickynewham@gmail.com for details.

I have been leading creative writing groups, classes & workshops at libraries, festivals, bookshops & local centres since 2012, starting with the Coulsdon Writers Group in Surrey and, more recently, the Harbour Books writing group in Whitstable for 1.5 years until the COVID19 lockdown in 2020.
